Widgets
How do I add the lock screen widget?
- Touch and hold your lock screen until it zooms out.
- Tap Customize, then Lock Screen.
- Tap the widget area under the clock, or the line above it.
- Find Daily Kanji and pick the rectangular, circular or inline widget.
- Tap Done.
How do I add a home screen widget?
Touch and hold an empty part of your home screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget. Search for Daily Kanji, pick a size and tap Add Widget.
Daily Kanji is missing from the widget list
Widgets are part of Daily Kanji Pro. Check that your trial or plan is active, open the app once, then restart your iPhone. Daily Kanji needs iOS 17.0 or later.
The widget is not showing a new word
iOS decides when widgets refresh, and Low Power Mode can slow it down. Open Daily Kanji to refresh right away. If it still looks stuck, remove the widget and add it again.
Subscription
What does Pro cost?
Pro is ฿150 per month, or ฿900 per year with a 7-day free trial. The free trial is only on the yearly plan. Free stays free with 5 cards a day. See the pricing section and the terms of use for details.
How do I cancel?
Open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Daily Kanji Pro and Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or period ends and you won't be charged again. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
I paid but Pro is not unlocked
Open Daily Kanji Pro in the app and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you used to subscribe.
How do I ask for a refund?
Apple handles all payments and refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Studying
How do Again, Good and Easy work?
After you reveal a card, tell the app how well you knew it. Again brings it back soon, Good spaces it out, and Easy waits longer before showing it again.
How do I see furigana?
Tap the example sentence a second time and readings appear over each kanji.
How do I change my JLPT levels?
Go to the Settings tab in the app and pick one or more levels. The most common words come first.
Is Daily Kanji linked to the JLPT?
No. Levels are estimates to guide your study. Daily Kanji is not affiliated with the JLPT.
Your iPhone
Which iPhones are supported?
Any iPhone running iOS 17.0 or later, including its lock screen and home screen widgets.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Every word and sentence is stored on your phone, so the app and widgets work without a connection.
Will I lose my progress on a new iPhone?
Your progress is saved on your iPhone only (see the privacy policy). There's no account and no cloud sync. It is included in your normal iPhone backup (iCloud Backup or a computer backup), so if you set up a new iPhone by restoring from a backup, your progress comes with it. If you set up the new iPhone as new, without restoring, your progress starts again.
